We spent 2 weeks in this hotel where we enjoyed wonderful weather, wonderful local calabrian food and wine and a very hospitable crew. The manager of the hotel is an experienced man and he coaches his crew in an extraordinary way. They are all eager to please the client. My breakfast cappucino was the best ever! Also the restaurant is of exquisite quality. All the food is freshly prepared and of local simplicity. But the taste is heavenly. Half- or full board is recommended, just because of the ingenuity of the cooks with their fresh products (in summer mainly see food dishes and fresh pastas).
The rooms are simple and of ample dimensions. Cleaning is daily and very thorough.
The current manager has his first year (2011) as managing director of this hotel, but all of his actions show he is a well experienced man. Anyway, don't let first impressions take you down. We (as a lot of guests allready do) will return to this hotel. Even if it was only to taste the food and the wines of the Ciró.
Hotel by the sea, breathtaking view with terrace for lunch. We chose a Deluxe room, large and well furnished, a few details to review. The only flaw is the lack of privacy with the guests in the room next door (low planters exist, but with nothing inside). Services rendered by the staff are of a high standard, with particular attention to Mr Raffaele, an icon of this place. Value for money, very high. We hope that Mr. Nicola will be able to maintain the quality of services and prices over time.
Great experience! The rooms are clean and the breakfast is plentiful. Very nice and helpful staff, I definitely recommend it
I just returned from the Hotel Dolce Stella and I had a great time throughout my holiday.
Below is some of my feedback regarding the structure and staff.
STRUCTURE: sea front. Every morning I woke up with the sea almost in my room. What to say? Wonderful!
ROOMS: I had a room on the second floor, huge and very large. It wasn't the ones that have just been redone/renovated, but it was a sort of apartment with a kitchen (not usable), and with a large fridge.
CLEANING: very good, every day.
BEACH SERVICE: practically in front, included in the rate.
BREAKFAST: I would say normal, with croissants and shells, packaged jams and nutellas, fruit, juices and butter. I would say it could be improved.
PARKING: there is a public car park in front of the hotel.
FUN: here there is only relaxation, if you want to have discos or anything else, don't consider this location. That's fine with me, that's what I was looking for.
LUNCH: if you don't have full board you can have lunch a la carte or have takeaway which you can consume either in your room or on the beach.
DINNER: possibility of having a starter, first course, second course, side dish and fruit. Drinks are excluded. Naturally the portions of the full board are different from those offered to customers who access the hotel for catering only. But that's fine too-
Consider the value for money EXCELLENT, I can't complain. Just two pieces of advice: to Vittoria to smile a few more times, we are all customers whether we stay at the hotel or come from abroad, to Nicola to be a little more present even with customers who are not really local or who in any case arrive for the first time in this area.
The last piece of advice is to also vary breakfast by adding savory foods and perhaps plan an artisanal/homemade dessert instead of fruit some evenings. A thousand thanks!
Premise: I travel to Europe and Italy every week for work, treatment like this never seen anywhere in the world.
I took a cold shower for two days in a row even though I notified the reception the first time.
After the second cold shower I go to talk about it again and I am treated very badly, instead of receiving an apology I had to argue with an arrogant person, I was forced to cancel the booking because instead of helping me they "kicked me out".
To add insult to injury.
Not to mention the broken toilet paper holder in the bathroom, the broken bathroom light with exposed electrical cables, the noisy air conditioning when turned off, the curtains letting light through and therefore useless and a hole in the ceiling.
Breakfast with zero choice, either an empty croissant or a croissant packed with industrial jams.
Restaurant: don't choose the fish it's tasteless, the rest is decent.
It's a shame because the structure has nice rooms, but with unspeakable staff.
For those who love to relax it is an ideal place, welcoming staff, everyone... beautiful dining room outside on the terrace, clean room. As for the catering, the dishes were good but in the three days that we were the first they were always with sauce or something added, the side dish and fruit were always the same... I recommend the chef to vary the menu a little
One flaw to say: since the kitchen is in the basement, the dishes arrived at the restaurant via elevator... which customers also use... and especially when there was fish or onion, the elevator was impracticable.
I recommend devising an elevator shaft exclusively for the kitchen.
We are 5 people for dinner. We order at 10pm and are served at 11.15pm. We should have left just for the service but, as if that wasn't enough, the owner didn't even have the good sense to give a discount or at least offer coffee and bitters at the time of the bill. He wanted everything, every penny. Shame! Never again! Highly not recommended!
Except for the beautiful location of the terrace overlooking the sea. The rest is terrible to say the least. The dining room manager, who as I hear, some dare call "maitre" is an improvised unpleasant and unprofessional plate carrier. Very bad.
